Women of Faith

The former Evangelical Lutheran Women (ELW) at St. Paul's is a community of women which recognizes the word of scripture in its understanding of mission and in the affirmation, growth and development of women, and faith in action.  After the ELW was recently dissolved, we decided to call our group "Women of St. Paul's Lutheran Church". We enjoy our bimonthly lunch hour meetings where good conversation often about women's role and issues in the church are discussed as well as the mission of women within the church as a whole. Pastor sometimes joins us for Bible Study with a wide range of topics.

As a group this year, we attended the World Day of Prayer, the Evangelical Lutheran Women's Spring and Fall Conferences and the Women's Auxiliary of the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary. At St. Paul's, we hosted, supported or were involved with

  • Women's Inter Church Councils Tea for the Shut-Ins
  • four funerals
  • coffee hours on occasion
  • the cost of the new church doors
  • the Altar Guild
  •  Camp Edgewood through the Roll Call at the ELW Spring conference
  •  the Gathering of the Least Coin
  • the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary
  •  the KW conference
  • the ELW Spring and Fall meetings
  • the Eastern Synod ELW with our Grace Offerings
  • the St Paul's Cradle Roll project.

All kitchen suppliers are paid for by the women of St Paul's. Get well, Christmas and Easter cards were sent to the sick and Shut-Ins, and birthday cards to everyone from St Paul's over 75 years old. In December we visited and brought flowers or gifts baskets of fruit and treats to our Shut-Ins. As you can see, "Women of St. Paul's Lutheran Church" is a very active group who play a significant role in engaging in congregational and community outreach and service. We warmly welcome all women who may feel that they have any time or talent gifts to share in this ministry.
